Terms of Service
Payment And Renewal
By selecting a product or service, you agree to pay the one-time and/or monthly or annual subscription fees indicated (additional payment terms may be included in other communications). Subscription payments will be charged on a pre-pay basis on the day you sign up for an Upgrade and will cover the use of that service as indicated. Payments are not refundable, except in the limited case of Storytellers Academy (online course), within the time frame as detailed in the appropriate section below.
Unless you notify us before the end of the applicable subscription period that you want to cancel a subscription, your subscription will automatically renew and you authorize us to collect the then-applicable monthly subscription fee for such subscription (as well as any taxes) using any credit card or other payment mechanism we have on record for you. Upgrades can be cancelled at any time by submitting your request to us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
By starting any remote (e.g. Zoom) or ‘In-person’ storytelling programme, you agree to pay the programme cost in full or part-payment upfront. Should you discontinue with the programme for any reason, no refunds are given. When paying part-payment upfront, should you wish to discontinue the programme before completion you will not be obliged the pay the remaining balance.
By engaging us to undertake proofreading, editing, commentary or critique on a document or any other work, you agree to pay the cost in full or part-payment upfront. When the work is completed, balance of payment is requested within fourteen (14) days.
By becoming a member of our Storytellers, you agree to pay the monthly membership fee by Standing Order. We reserve the right to change the payment terms and fees upon thirty (30) days prior written notice to you. Services can be cancelled by you at any time by emailing us to notify cancellation. You are required to give thirty (30) days’ notice.
We reserve the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace any part of this Agreement. It is your responsibility to check this Agreement periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to the Website following the posting of any changes to this Agreement constitutes acceptance of those changes. Need Words may also, in the future, offer new services and/or features through the Website (including, the release of new tools and resources). Such new features and/or services shall be subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
All discussions are kept in confidence. I will not share or reproduce any of your writing or other materials without your permission.
Membership of Storytellers is charged at £55 per month, payable by standing order. Details available when you decide to join. Membership is only available to those aged 18 years or over.
Group workshops / other group sessions take place monthly, although some variation to the pattern may occur as opportunities arise and as the needs of the members dictate.
1:1 support is at 45 minutes per month, accessed face to face, by telephone or by Zoom. This time does not roll over.
There is a three month tie-in period when you become a member of Storytellers. After these three months have expired, membership is on a rolling monthly basis. Please give a month’s notice if you wish to leave Storytellers.
Proofreading, editing, commentary and critique services are charged at the fees listed, unless preferential rates are agreed upon due to membership of Need Words’ Storytellers or Need Words’ Storytellers’ Academy (online), 50% payable in advance and the balance on completion.
I cannot promise you will get a publishing contract or that you will become rich.
Any discussions regarding publishing options are to be regarded as general provision of information, not as advice about the publishing path you should take.
Storytellers’ Academy (online course membership)
These terms and conditions set out the accepted use of Storytellers’ Academy Membership Area and the Facebook group ‘Storytellers’ Academy’ which is associated with it. By becoming a member of Storytellers’ Academy you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
It is your responsibility to follow all posted rules. You must not infringe on copyrighted materials or proprietary information, including those belonging to Deanne Adams and other members of Storytellers’ Academy. You must not spam other members of the group. You may not assign the membership to anyone else. Respect of others’ opinions, backgrounds and stories must be given. Do not deliberately set out to cause offence. Storytellers’ Academy is founded on principles of open-mindedness and freedom of expression, but this must not be abused.
Deanne Adams reserves the right to review any content added by members, particularly in the Facebook group community feature, and reserves the right to take down content deemed inappropriate. Continued inappropriate actions may lead to the discontinuation of service both of the website and the Facebook group without refund.
It is the intention of Deanne Adams to continue and grow Storytellers’ Academy for many years to come. However, should continuation of the service become impractical, she reserves the right to close it down.
