You might have an entire manuscript already produced. You might even have a book or two already published. Or you might just have a good grasp of the basics – show and tell, characters, shape of a story, etc. – and be ready to start creating a fantastic first novel with closer support and a small group to cheer you on.
Don’t muddle your way through an entire novel without knowing if you’re going in the right direction. Don’t go through rounds and rounds of time-consuming, frustrating (and expensive) editing. Forgemasters membership can help you create a manuscript you’re confident is ready for publication or for pitching to agents. Not by taking shortcuts… but by avoiding the blind alleys so many writers find themselves stuck down.

Create a manuscript ready for publication
You’ll achieve this by three-fold support. Firstly, you have a 1:1 session on Zoom every month with your ‘house’ mentor. At this point in time, this means Deanne Adams. In future, new ‘houses’ will be formed and led by other experienced fiction writers who can guide their cohort to craft their stories and help them overcome their obstacles.
The long-term plan for Forgemasters is to enable writers to take ‘sabbaticals’ to other mentors’ cohorts in order to benefit from different experts’ viewpoints. More on this exciting development before long, I hope!
Secondly, each week you’ll have access to an online Hivemind session for your ‘house’ (max. eight writers) in which attendees discuss scenes or stories submitted before the session.
Feedback is helpful, constructive and friendly, and provides lots of food for thought because of the range of perspectives and knowledge of the house members.
Plus it’s a great way to get to know the other writers in your cohort.
Additionally, once a month you get to meet with your mentor and cohort for a mastermind session: discuss your plans and goals, keep your mindset positive and focused, and find ways to move forward with your writing career.
It is the ideal opportunity to learn from others’ experiences in the fiction writing world, whether it’s entering writing competitions, pitching your manuscript to a literary agent or publisher, or gaining perspectives on whether the best route for you is to seek representation or to self-publish.
A supportive network for fiction writers
